Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition Opening Reception
Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 6 – 8 pm
Join artists, family and friends in celebrating art and the creation of art in one of New England’s most exciting and fastest growing cultural organizations. This reception is free and open to the public.
Accepted Artworks
For the Danforth Museum of Art’s Members’ Juried Exhibition 2009, co-jurors Lisa Tung and Joseph Carroll, chose 61 works from 580 pieces of art submitted by 342 artists. As a way to celebrate the artistic talents of so many of our members, the Danforth staff have also selected nearly 140 additional works that will be shown concurrently in our Community of Artists exhibition.

This Year’s Jurors
About Lisa Tung
Lisa Tung is the Director of Curatorial Programs and Professional Galleries at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). She has curated numerous exhibitions and oversees the college’s Visiting Artist Program. Her latest project, Figuratively Seeing, is currently on view through March 3, 2009. She has served as a nominator and juror for numerous art juries and prizes and has also been asked to guest curate for the Bernard Toale Gallery, ICA (at the Maine College of Art), Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art, among others. Tung holds both undergraduate and masters degrees in art history.
About Joseph Carroll
Joseph Carroll ran the Bernard Toale Gallery before taking it over in the summer of 2008 and reopening the space as Carroll and Sons that September. Prior to managing Bernard Toale Gallery for five years, Joseph worked for three years with Dan Elias at Elias fine art.
