Parlor Game Weekend. The “parlor” (similar to today’s living room) was the center of leisure-time family amusement in the mid-late 1900’s for middle- and upper-class Americans. Before radios, televisions, video games, and computers, “parlor games” provided hours of entertainment for families and their guests. Drop in during regular museum hours this weekend for parlor games in the galleries in connection with the exhibition The Memory Palace: Domesticity, Objects, and the Interior. Try out traditional games and ones with a contemporary twist including Charades, Old Maid, Tiddlywinks, and Anagrams. Free for Danforth Art members, or with museum admission.
