Lana Z. Caplan is a Boston-based multimedia artist who works with historic photographic processes and film. Her approach to making images is tied to her thematic concerns, which revolve around the growth, death, and decay of living things.

Caplan's photographs, shot in international locations, present the contemporary appearances of places used for hangings, beheadings, and burnings, some in the transient fury of revolution, some in long-term state-sanctioned spectacles. Short films depicting these historic sites will also be shown.
