Susan L. Roth visited the Danforth April 24 and 25, 2009. She is co-author with Greg Mortenson and illustrator of Listen to the Wind, the Story of Dr. Greg and Three Cups of Tea. This children's book, a current New York Times best seller, vividly recounts Greg Mortenson's journey and decision to build schools in Pakistan.
All children taking school vacation workshops on Friday morning, April 24, 2009, met Susan Roth and learned from the artist how she created her beautiful collages.
On Saturday, April 25, 2009, in conjunction with Susan Roth's visit, a special children's workshop for ages 5 –12 was held: Art Workshop for Children: Exploring Collage. This workshop was offered concurrently with the museum event, Conversations with Susan L. Roth and Julia Bergman, Chair, Board of Directors, Central Asia Institute. Create collages and explore color, patterns, and composition in an exciting workshop! For children ages 5 –12. The class will also view Susan Roth's beautiful collages from the book, Listen to the Wind, The Story of Dr. Greg and Three Cups of Tea, on display in the Children's Gallery.
