Arches Student Print Exhibition

About the Exhibition

The Boston Printmakers is pleased to announce the 7th Arches Student Print Exhibition. The student exhibition, sponsored by the Arches Paper Company, is shown in conjunction with The Boston Printmakers’ 2011 North American Print Biennial. The student show is hung in the 2nd Floor Danforth Museum School Gallery.

The first six Arches Student Exhibitions, starting in 1999 were a resounding success. This year 20 New England art schools, colleges and university printmaking departments will be participating.

There are 6 Arches Paper Awards. The prize winners this year are:

Stephanie Geiser, Plague, photo-polymer gravure, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
Amelia Green, Roberto Bessin, linocut, University of Rhode Island
Kelliann Jarasitis, Pumpkin Bowl, monotype, Massasoit Community College
Annelies Kamen, Comfort, lithograph, School of the Museum of Fine Arts
Katie O’Brien, Untitled, lithograph, Art Institute of Boston, Lesley University
Andrea Santos, Rope, drypoint, etching, Massachusetts College of Art & Design

There are 3 Boston Printmakers’ Student Awards. These prizes are awarded to:

Max Colby, Skins, artist’s book, screenprint, collagraph, hand-made paper,
School of the Museum of Fine Arts
Paul DeRuvo, A Body Anew, silk aquatint, drypoint, Massachusetts College of Art & Design
Kate St. Cyr, Lapin, artist’s book, Montserrat College of Art

In addition, for the first time this year, Gamblin Artists Colors Company is awarding 6  Gamblin Artists Colors Printmakers Prizes. The winners of these prizes are:

Sara DeAngelis, Two for the Road, artist’s book, woodcut, Framingham State University
Kerri Gaudelli, The Call, the Memory, the Fish, intaglio, University of Connecticut
Rebecca F. Jackson, Fly Away Home, lithograph over screenprint, Mount Holyoke College

Laura Jean Schneider, Waiting for the Cattle Trucks, linocut, Smith College
