January 29 - April 2, 2006

Reception January 29, 2-4 p.m.

Boston Printmakers : The New Landscape, Alternative Approaches showcases traditional printmaking techniques such as woodcut, lithography, and intaglio, as well as more contemporary approaches, which include monoprints, mixed media, and digital imagery.

Established in 1947, The Boston Printmakers is one of the oldest organizations of professional printmakers in the United States.  Founded by a small group of senior students and faculty at Boston's School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Massachusetts College of Art, The Boston Printmakers debuted with a successful exhibition in 1948.

In conjunction with Boston Printmakers : The New Landscape, Alternative Approaches, the Danforth Museum of Art will present demonstrations, workshops, and Master Workshops taught by artist members of The Boston Printmakers.  Workshops will cover such printmaking processes as drypoint printmaking, Chinese woodblock, and monotype.  Additionally, the Museum will offer a series of gallery talks covering such subjects as digital drawing and painting as they relate to printmaking.
